Green Line Extension Project
The Green Line Extension project is an initiative of the Executive Office of Transportation, which is coordinating the project with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). The project will extend existing MBTA Green Line service from Lechmere Station through the northwest Boston corridor communities of Cambridge, Somerville, and Medford, with an extension of the main line to College Avenue in Medford and a spur line to Union Square in Somerville. The project will increase mobility, encourage public transit usage, improve regional air quality, ensure a more equitable distribution of transit services, and support opportunities for sustainable growth in the corridor municipalities.
The Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Assessment(DEIR/EA) for the project was filed with the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act Office (MEPA) on October 15, 2009. It is now available online. Click here to download the document. The Fall 2009 Project Fact Sheet which includes a guide to the DEIR/EA document and process is available here for download.
