October 11, 2016 - Seeking Letters of Interest
The MBTA is seeking letters of interest from firms that may want to provide services for the Green Line Extension project. This step initiates the process for engaging potential bidders in the design and construction industry in the next phase of the project. View the MBTA Business Center webpage for more detail.

On August 8, 2016, the MBTA Fiscal & Management Control Board authorized the MBTA to proceed with the next phase of the Green Line Extension project: the development of procurement documents for the ultimate selection of a new construction team. In addition, on August 25, 2016, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) presented its latest review and findings on the redesigned project:
- The project as redesigned is consistent with the Green Line Extension Full Funding Grant Agreement, which will allow MassDOT/MBTA to partially fund the GLX project using federal monies.
- The latest cost estimates are complete and well documented.
- The revised project schedule is mechanically sound, but potentially optimistic.
FTA also recommended that MassDOT/MBTA immediately secure a permanent management team for the project. That search is now underway.
MassDOT is currently finalizing additional documents to provide to FTA; preparing technical materials including plans, design criteria, and specifications; and developing a Request for Letters of Interest to distribute within the construction community.
Please stay tuned for further updates as progress continues, and feel free to leave comments at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your continued interest in the Green Line Extension project.
